The St Helena Bay community are strongly objecting to the proposed mining operations in ST Helena Bay. There is expected to be major negative effects to both humans and nature if this goes ahead. My concerns related to the prospecting and mining in the St Helena Bay area are:
• Air Pollution due to the South Westerly wind that blows.
• Health issues related to heavy and other metals that will land up in the air
• Loss of income to local businesses and workers
• Financial loss, as we have invested heavily into the community
• Environmental damage
• Loss of unique fauna that only occurs within this region
• Loss of habitat for the wildlife in the area
• Pollution of our underground water reserves
• Damage to the greater economy of the fishing town that relies on fishing and tourism
• Loss of jobs by the currently employed, due to business moving elsewhere or fishing activities
• Damage to the marine life
